Before You Rent – Choose the Right Vehicle for Your Needs
When you’re looking to rent a car at Tbilisi International Airport, it’s important to choose wisely. In 2019, we introduced our multi-product rental system, making it easy to compare different options and see the final price upfront. Whether you're after a budget-friendly car rental or something more luxurious, our system helps you find the best option for your travel needs.
Car rental insurance can often be tricky to navigate, and what’s included may not always be what you expect. By booking directly with us, you'll receive the correct insurance for your vehicle, providing you peace of mind throughout your rental experience.
When You Collect Your Vehicle – Plan Ahead for a Smooth Pickup
Planning your car pickup is essential, especially when renting a car from an airport car rental location. Make sure you know exactly where to meet your chaperone or where the rental desk is located. Your rental confirmation email will contain all the necessary contact information, so be sure to save the local phone number in your phone ahead of time to avoid any confusion.
Have the correct documents ready. We try and keep the check in process as painless as possible but we do need to process certain information for legal reasons so having these ready ahead of time can help speed up the process. Make sure you have your booking details ready, along with your driving licence, passport and valid credit card.
Vehicle Condition Report (VCR) – Inspect Before You Drive
Before you drive off, it’s critical to complete a Vehicle Condition Report (VCR). Carefully inspect the vehicle for any existing damage, paying special attention to key areas such as bumpers, mirrors, and wheels, these are common damage hotspots. If any damage is not reported, you could be held liable for it upon return. To make this process easier, we've created a helpful vehicle inspection video to guide you through the checks.
While You Rent – Drive with Care
Once you’ve picked up your vehicle, remember that you’re responsible for any damage during your rental period. This is especially true for airport car rentals, as they’re often used for quick trips. A significant number of vehicle damages happen in parking lots especially minor dings. To avoid this, park further away from busy areas where space is limited, and take extra care when parking to protect your rental.
When You Return Your Vehicle – Final Vehicle Check
Upon returning your vehicle, it's important to complete another Vehicle Condition Report (VCR). This helps ensure any new damage is documented, no matter how small. Be thorough in your inspection, especially around the damage hotspots. This step ensures you're fully covered and makes the return process quick and efficient.

Driving in Tbilisi can be both exciting and challenging. Roads are generally in good condition, but traffic in the city can be hectic, with aggressive driving habits and frequent congestion during peak hours. Driving is on the right-hand side of the road, and seatbelts are mandatory for all passengers. Using a mobile phone while driving is prohibited unless you have a hands-free device.
The speed limits in Georgia are 60 km/h (37 mph) in cities, 90 km/h (56 mph) on rural roads, and 110 km/h (68 mph) on highways. Police frequently monitor speed, and fines are strictly enforced. Always carry your driver’s license, rental documents, and passport, as police checkpoints are common. An International Driving Permit (IDP) is recommended if your license is not in English or Georgian.
Parking in Tbilisi varies depending on the district. Paid parking is common in the city center, while free parking may be available in residential areas. Parking regulations are enforced, so always check signage. Fuel stations are easy to find and usually accept credit and debit cards, though having some Georgian Lari (GEL) in cash is useful in rural areas.
Driving beyond Tbilisi opens up incredible opportunities. The Georgian Military Highway takes you into the Caucasus Mountains to Kazbegi, while wine lovers can drive east to Kakheti, Georgia’s famous wine region. Roads in rural and mountain areas can be narrow, winding, and affected by weather conditions, so extra caution is needed.
