Further information to help with your car rental from Larnaca

After you’ve safely landed in Cyprus and collected your hire car from Green Motion Larnaca, we know that you will be ready to get your car on the road and explore the beautiful city of Larnaca.

If you are unfamiliar with driving in Cyprus, it is important to remember that you must drive on the left hand side of the road and overtake on the right. We also recommend that you consider hiring a GPS (SatNav) to ensure that you arrive safely and quickly at your destination.

Enjoy your car hire in Larnaca

If this is your first time driving a car in Cyprus, our advice is to stay calm and take your time. As already mentioned, remember to drive on the left and we’d also recommend for your own peace of mind to consider hiring a GPS to ensure you can navigate around Larnaca with relative ease (ask at the rental counter for details).

When travelling on the motorway, the maximum speed is 100 km/h (65 km/h as the minimum). Signs on the motorway are green and generally written in both Greek and English. The speed limit in built-up areas is 50 km/h. For your own safety it is important that you obey the local traffic and speed restrictions.

Parking isn’t overly expensive and spaces are relatively easy to find in the city. Once you have found a spot, you will need to put money into the parking meter so keep some spare change on yourself.

Should you require any assistance while in Cyprus, emergency services can be contacted by calling 112 for police, firefighters and medical services.

Discover Larnaca

As one of the oldest city’s in Cyprus, Larnaca has a deep cultural and architectural history. Whatever interests you may have, Larnaca has something to offer you and your family / friends. We would recommend that you include the following destinations into your travel itinerary:

  1. Salt Lake - Located in the West of Larnaca, the Salt Lake actually comprises of 4 individual lakes (3 of which are connecting). Besides the lakes' natural beauty, they are also home to over 80 species of birds. The lakes are filled with water in the winter but try up over the summer months, leaving a salted crust. The area is beautiful no matter the season of your visit!
  2. The Camel Park in Mazotos - The Camel Park is situated in Mazotos which is a short 15 minutes car journey from Larnaca International Airport. The park’s greatest attraction is obviously its camel rides however the park also boasts of a swimming pool, restaurant and other animals (such as deer, ostriches, horses, donkeys etc). A perfect day out for the entire family!
  3. Agios Lazaros (Saint Lazarus) Byzantine Church
The Saint Lazarus church is one of the most important Byzantine monuments in Cyprus. The stone church was originally constructed in 890 on what is believed to be the grave of St. Lazarus, Jesus’ friend whom he raised from the dead. The church was turned into a mosque around 1570 A.D. It was then sold back to the Orthodox church because of its connection with Christianity. The changes over the life of the church has only made the architecture of the building more stunning and diverse.
