Further information to help with your car rental from Gdansk

After you’ve safely landed in Poland and collected your hire car from Green Motion Gdansk, we know that you will be eager to get your car on the road and start exploring the passionate and historical country of Poland.

If you are unfamiliar with driving in Poland, it is important to remember that you must drive on the right hand side of the road. We also recommend that you consider hiring a GPS / SatNav to ensure that you arrive at your chosen destination with speed and accuracy.

Enjoy your car hire in Poland

If this is your first time driving a car in Poland, our advice is to stay calm and take your time. As already mentioned, remember that you must drive on the right-hand side of the road and overtake on the left (however noting that trams must be overtaken on the right). We also recommend for your own peace of mind to consider hiring a GPS to ensure you can navigate around Poland with ease (ask at the rental counter for details).

Poland is a major transit route for larger vehicles (ie lorries). The road network is constantly being upgraded and therefore be mindful that roadworks are frequent, particularly in the summer months.

When travelling on the motorways, the speed limit is 140 km/h, 120 km/h on 2 lane express roads and 100 km/h on single lane express roads. The speed limit outside the city and in built-up areas is indicated by signs. For your own safety it is important that you obey the local traffic and speed restrictions.

Should you require any assistance while in Poland, Polish emergency services can be contacted by calling 997 for police, 998 for fire fighters and 999 for medical services.

Green Motion Car Rental in Poland

In the heart of Europe, Poland is a country where vibrant cities, beautiful landscapes, rich culture and historical heritage blend into an unforgettable experience.

Poland is divided into 16 administrative subdivisions, covering an area of 312,679 square kilometres (120,726 sq mi) with, for the most part, a temperate climate with average temperatures between 18 and 30 °C (64.4 and 86.0 °F) in the summer.

If you get away from the big cities, much of Poland feels remote and unspoiled. While large swathes of the country are flat, the southern border is lined with lovely mountains where you can spend days, if not weeks, in splendid solitude.

And if you are a lover of home cooked food, then you’ve come to the right place. Polish food is based largely on local ingredients, combined simply and honed to perfection and you must try the regional specialities like duck, goose and trout.
