Green Motion Expands in Germany with New Hamburg Airport Location

Green Motion continues its expansion across Germany with the launch of a new, state-of-the-art in-terminal facility at Hamburg International Airport. This latest addition strengthens the brand’s presence in one of Europe’s key car rental markets.

The Hamburg franchise is operated by industry veteran Stefan Schwirtz, whose 33-year career includes serving as Sixt’s senior area director. His extensive experience in the sector positions him well to drive success in this competitive market.

“Stefan, in a very short period of time, has done an incredible job acquiring a fantastic facility at Hamburg Airport, which I’m confident will support our drive in this very important European market,” said Richard Lowden, founder and CEO of Green Motion, in a statement released on March 11.

This marks Green Motion’s third German location, following its successful openings at Memmingen Airport and Munich Airport. The brand is also set to expand further later this year with a new in-terminal location at Berlin Airport.

Hamburg International Airport serves as a vital travel hub for Germany’s second-largest city. Named after former German chancellor Helmut Schmidt since 2016, the airport ranked as the country’s fifth-busiest in 2023, handling 13.5 million passengers and over 120,000 aircraft movements.

Located in northern Germany, Hamburg is known for its historic port, vibrant cultural scene, and stunning architecture. The city boasts a rich maritime heritage, with attractions such as the Speicherstadt warehouse district, the modern Elbphilharmonie concert hall, and scenic waterways that make it one of the most picturesque destinations in Europe. As a major business and tourism center, Hamburg attracts visitors from around the world, making it an ideal location for Green Motion’s continued expansion.

Green Motion, along with its sister brand U-Save, will showcase its latest developments at the International Car Rental Show in Las Vegas from April 14-16, where attendees can learn more about the company’s German operations and future expansion plans.
