Introduction

This statement is made pursuant to section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and sets out the steps that Green Motion have taken, and is continuing to take, to make sure that modern slavery or human trafficking is not taking place within our business or supply chain.

Modern slavery encompasses slavery, servitude, human trafficking and forced labour. Green Motion has a zero-tolerance approach to any form of modern slavery. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity and transparency in all business dealings and to putting effective systems and controls in place to safeguard against any form of modern slavery taking place within the business or our supply chain.

Green Motion is a leading and trusted organisation helping people gain access to short term vehicle rental. Our business is currently operating in 60 countries around the world. This statement is applicable to all persons working for us or on our behalf in any capacity, including employees at all levels, directors, officers, agency workers, seconded workers, volunteers, interns, agents, contractors, external consultants, third-party representatives, and business partners.

Due to the nature of our business, we assess ourselves to have a low risk of modern slavery in our business and supply chains.

Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It takes various forms, such as slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour and human trafficking, all of which have in common the deprivation of a person’s liberty by another in order to exploit them for personal or commercial gain. We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and we are committed to:

• To acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships
• To implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our own business or in any of our supply chains
• To improving our practices to combat slavery and human trafficking
• To ensuring there is transparency in our own business and in our approach to tackling modern slavery throughout our supply chains, consistent with our disclosure obligations under the Modern Slavery Act 2015.

We operate a number of internal policies to ensure that we are conducting business in an ethical and transparent manner. These include:

• Recruitment procedure – Employees are recruited lawfully following clearly communicated procedures and right to work checks are carried out to ensure that individuals have the right to work in the relevant countries where Green Motion operate. Only reputable recruitment agencies are used for temporary staff and are subject to our procurement process prior to engagement.

• Equal opportunities – we have a range of controls to protect staff from poor treatment and / or exploitation, which comply with all respective laws and regulations. These include provision of fair pay rates, fair terns and conditions of employment, and access to training and development opportunities.
• Whistleblowing policy – we operate a whistleblowing policy so that all employees know that they can raise concerns about how colleagues are being treated, or about practices within our business or supply chain, without fear of reprisals.
• Standards of business conduct – this code explains the manner in which we behave as an organisation and how we expect our employees and suppliers to act.

Embedding the principles

We will continue to embed the principles through:

• Providing awareness training to staff on the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and informing them of the appropriate action to take if they suspect a case of slavery or human trafficking.
• Ensuring that consideration of the modern slavery risks and prevention are added to Green Motion policy review process as an employer
• Making sure Green Motion procurement strategies and contract terms and conditions include references to modern slavery and human trafficking
• Continuing to take action to embed a zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery
• Ensuring that staff involved in buying or procurement and the recruitment of workers receive training on modern slavery and ethical employment practices.

This statement will be reviewed and updated every year.
