Before you rent
Choose wisely. In 2019 we introduced our multi-product system which helps you choose a car based on your needs and easily see the final price. Car rental insurance can be tricky to navigate and often isn't what you expect, by booking with us direct you'll receive the correct insurance for your rental.
When you collect your vehicle
Plan ahead. We recommend planning your route before you leave, especially when renting a car at an airport. Are you sure where you're meeting your chaperone or where the rental desk is? Your confirmation email will have the contact information for the location, so we suggest saving the number in your phone ahead of time.
Have the correct documents ready. We try and keep the check in process as painless as possible but we do need to process certain information for legal reasons so having these ready ahead of time can help speed up the process. Make sure you have your booking details ready, along with your driving licence, passport and valid credit card.
Complete a vehicle check. It's essential when you are taken to your car you complete a Vehicle Condition Report (VCR) and note any existing damage, paying particular attention to the five damage hotspots. If you don't report this, you may be liable for these damages when you return the vehicle. We don't want you to get caught out, so we've put together a handy vehicle inspection video to help you check everything thoroughly.
While you rent
Take care. Unfortunately you may be liable for any damage caused to a vehicle in your care, and this will vary depending on the product you choose. A large proportion of damages to any car can be dings you pick up in car parks, so be mindful when space is limited and park further away and walk a little further to your destination.
When you return your vehicle
Complete a vehicle check. It's time to carry out a VCR again and even more essential to fully log any damage, no matter how small, to ensure you are fully covered and we can process your return effectively. Be sure to check the vehicle as before, paying special attention to the five damage hotspots.

Driving in Dubai is straightforward with modern highways, clear signage, and strict enforcement of road rules. Roads are well maintained, and GPS navigation is reliable via Google Maps or Waze.
With a car, you can explore Dubai at your own pace, from the sparkling towers of Downtown to the serene desert dunes on the outskirts. Major highways like Sheikh Zayed Road (E11) are directly accessible from the airport, allowing for easy day trips to Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, or Ras Al Khaimah. Renting at the terminal also means you’ll avoid extra airport transfer fees and have more flexibility with return times, particularly if your flight is scheduled late at night or early morning.
The UAE drives on the right-hand side, and road signs are in Arabic and English. You can drive with a valid license from select countries (e.g., USA, UK, EU, GCC), but tourists from other countries must present an International Driving Permit (IDP) alongside their home license.
Speed Limits:
Urban areas: 60–80 km/h (37–50 mph)
Main roads & highways: 100–120 km/h (62–75 mph)
Some expressways: Up to 140 km/h (87 mph)
Speed cameras are everywhere, and fines for violations (speeding, tailgating, phone use) are strictly enforced. The UAE has zero tolerance for alcohol and driving—even trace amounts can lead to jail time.
Roundabouts, flyovers, and lane changes can be intense during rush hour (especially between 7–9 AM and 5–8 PM), but drivers generally follow traffic laws and lane discipline.
Fuel is cheap and widely available, with most stations open 24/7. Full-service is standard, and credit/debit cards are accepted, though it’s helpful to carry some UAE dirhams (AED).
Parking at Terminal 2 includes short- and long-term paid lots, and many malls and hotels offer free or valet parking. In the city, metered street parking is common—look for signage or use the RTA mParking app via SMS or mobile.

I had a very good experience with Green Motion Car Rental. I chose them because of their budget-friendly deals and comparatively low insurance fees. The rental process was smooth and professional. During collection and return, they took detailed videos of the vehicle to ensure everything matched our agreement—which I appreciated for transparency. I also recommend taking your own video of the car (inside and outside) during pick-up for extra peace of mind. Most importantly, my deposit was returned on time without any issues. Great value for money and reliable service!
