Tourists from ASEAN countries can use their national licenses without needing an International Driving Permit (IDP), but others are advised to obtain an IDP along with their national license before driving in Singapore.
The city-state has stringent rules regarding alcohol consumption while driving; the legal blood alcohol limit is 0.08% for most drivers, but penalties can be severe even at lower levels if driving is impaired.
