Best places to park your electric car in Bristol

Thanks to the legacy of Bristol's year as European Green Capital in 2015, this beautiful city is one of the easiest places in the UK to drive an electric or hybrid car. Here, we take a look at some of the best places to park as you discover Bristol's many and varied attractions.

Harbourside

No visit to Bristol is complete without a stroll around the regenerated Harbourside area. Here you can set sail on a paddleboard or yacht, visit a tourist attraction like Brunel’s SS Great Britain, enjoy the fountains of Millennium Square, indulge in a waterside meal or shop at one of the regular markets. While you enjoy a relaxing few hours, you can park at the spacious Millennium Square Car Park which was recently named by the AA as one of the UK’s best places to park. Head to the Green Zone in level -1 for the two free-to-use EV electric charging points.

Bristol Cathedral

With its award-winning gardens, programme of family activities and lovely café, Bristol Cathedral is a great place to enjoy lunch and a walk after learning about the rich and varied history of this imposing landmark that dominates the landscape in the heart of Bristol. It was originally founded in 1130, although it’s famous Western Twin Towers were completed in 1888. Parking is available at the nearby College Street Car Park, which has charging points for four cars in its covered section.

Cabot Tower

Cabot Tower was completed in 1897 to commemorate the voyage of John Cabot from Bristol 100 years earlier to what later became Canada. It’s an impressive landmark to view from the outside, but its true appeal lies in climbing the 105ft to the top to enjoy panoramic views of the city and Harbourside. Its location in the peaceful and hilly park, Brandon Hill means there is no onsite parking but Trenchard Street Car Park is a pleasant 10 minute walk away and has nine charging points.

Bristol Zoo

When it comes to a good old fashioned family day out, you can’t beat a zoo and Bristol Zoo, with its pretty setting and commitment to conservation is well worth a visit. Gorillas, red pandas, meerkats and African penguins are just a few of the many species in residence. There is ample parking for the thousands of visitors who descend daily, however drivers of electric cars should head to the North Car Park where there are two electric charging points.
