16 people injured during turbulence on a United Airlines flight

16 people were injured during turbulence which prompted a transatlantic flight to make an emergency landing in the Republic of Ireland.

14 passengers and 2 crew members were taken to hospital this morning.

The United Airlines flight was flying from Houston, Texas to London Heathrow Airport when it was diverted to Shannon Airport.

Turbulence is a common cause of injury to people while flying with an average of 58 people in the US being injured every year during turbulent flights when not wearing a seat-belt.
