Apple is still playing catch-up with their self-driving car technology and their scaled down unit is still in disorder after a major reorganisation last year however they are hiring again.

Apple seem to be far behind its competitors in the self-driving car market. Google is by all means the most developed in its self-driving technology and companies such as Uber, Tesla and traditional car manufacturers such as General Motors are all developing their own autonomous driving technology.

Apple has joined the market relatively recently and they are still far behind their nearest competitors. Apple’s project was originally planned to build its own automobile however, as of July 2016, the team was reorganised and is now focused on developing autonomous systems.

The company is hiring again and is specifically looking for people with autonomous vehicle software experience.

They are testing their technology by operating a commuter car service for employees, shuttling them between campuses.
