Best airports in the world

Over 14 million passengers were surveyed to determine the top airports around the world. More than 550 airports were included in the survey and were judged on 39 service and performance indicators, such as facility comfort and the language skills of the service staff.

Number 15: Copenhagen Airport (CPH)

Passengers were impressed by the clear and well-placed signs, along with their efficient facilities.

Number 14: Tokyo Narita International Airport (NRT)

Narita was praised for its efficient and friendly staff, clean facilities and abundant dining options.

Number 13: Vancouver International Airport (YVR)

Understandably, passengers were impressed with Vancouver's sizeable collection of art from the Pacific Northwest. Also its location is convenient for travellers, with easy access to downtown Vancouver.

Number 12: Kansai International Airport (KIX)

This airport boasts an incredible Sky View Observation Deck for passengers to view incoming and outgoing flights. Reviewers also highly praised its modern architecture.

Number 11: Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS)

Going up two places from its number thirteen spot last year. This airport has impressed surveyors with its wide variety of leisure activities, including a library.

Number 10: Frankfurt Airport (FRA)

Winning a spot in the top ten, Frankfurt was praised for its transit links and its plentiful shopping and dining options.

Number 9: London Heathrow Airport (LHR)

Also securing a place in the top ten, the UK's only placing entry was London Heathrow. However, the eight-year-old Terminal 5 building was voted the world's best terminal.

Number 8: Zurich Airport (ZRH)

This airport is only 8 miles away from the city of Zurich, making it highly convenient for travellers. For passengers that have an extended layover, bicycles and inline-skating equipment is available for hire, along with organised excursions to the Swiss Museum of Transport Lucerne.

Number 7: Central Japan International Airport (NGO)

Number 6: Hamad International Airport (DOH)

This airport cost $16 billion dollars to construct and has been described as "the most architecturally significant terminal complex in the world, as well as being the most luxurious."

Number 5: Hong Kong International Airport (HKG)

Number 4: Munich Airport (MUC)

Munich Airport features airy, glass-heavy architecture. A nearby visitors park features mini golf and a display of historic aircraft.

Grabbing the number three spot, Incheon is the 24th busiest airport in the world. Incheon's highly regarded facilities feature an array of shopping and dining options, in addition to a multitude of cultural performances. The airport even has a Korean culture museum.

Number 2: Tokyo Haneda International Airport (HND)

The world's fifth-busiest airport and one of two airports to serve Tokyo; Haneda is known for its service efficiency, cleanliness, and shopping.
