California announced as one of the National Leaders in Energy Efficiency

A new report announced today that despite the size and need of the state of California, it compares well to others when it comes to energy efficiency. In fact, its per capita energy consumption is among the lowest in the nation.

“While California consumes the second largest amount of energy in the nation, it is also one of the most energy-efficient states,” says a report commissioned by the nonprofit group Next 10. “Compared to all other states, California ranks among the lowest in the nation for both per capita energy consumption and per capita energy spending.”

The state also leads the nation in renewable energy production, and comes in second place when large hydropower is included, the report adds, noting that it is furthermore one of the biggest oil producers in the country. That type of energy diversity, it continues, helps insulate its economy from fluctuating oil and gas prices — things that have adversely affected Texas and North Dakota. California is thus one of the nation’s top job creators.

Green Motion recently announced the opening of its first rental station in San Diego, California. Green Motion San Diego is now taking car hire bookings as of 1st August 2016 at the brand new car rental centre at San Diego International Airport.

Within the new rent-a-car centre, the current line-up of operators, including Hertz, Avis and Enterprise, will have ground floor rental counters in a “mini-mall” configuration. The facility has a four-level parking deck that will house up to 5,400 cars, with fuelling, maintenance and car-washing operations to be run by rental firms.

The facility sits on a 25.5 acre site at 3355 Admiral Boland Way, on the northern side of the airport near Interstate 5. Officials said the project created approximately 4,600 jobs during construction, with on-site operational employment to be determined by the rental car companies.

Green Motion are proud to be supporting California’s green energy position by providing customers with the lowest CO2 emitting and fuel-efficient vehicles for the provision of rent-a-car services throughout the world, including electric, hybrid and Particulate Filtered Diesels.
