Car manufacturers have written to the European Commission, asking for more time to be able to implement real world driving emission rules. They’ve complained that the planned roll-out will has become an unworkable task.

The automobile industry has welcomed the introduction of stricter testing methods to measure the CO2 and pollutant emissions of vehicles; however the proposed legislation only gives the industry a few months to comply.

The new RDE test will be used to measure pollutant emissions while vehicles are under real driving conditions.
