China banning vehicles powered by fossil fuels

China is joining force with the UK, Norway and France in banning vehicles powered by fossil fuels from 2040.

If China, who are the world’s largest new vehicle market, were to pan gasoline and diesel vehicles in the market, the impact would be gigantic.

Xin Guobin, the vice minister of Industry and Information Technology, said the Chinese government is currently working on a timetable in order to eventually end the production and sales of fossil-fuel powered vehicles.

This follows on from the country already committing to cap its carbon emissions by 2030.

There have been rumours that Germany may also follow in the fossil-fuel ban.
