China trying to keep their water away from contact with air

With China’s air pollution being many times above the maximum recommended levels by the World Health Organisation, people are trying to keep their water away from contact with air before consumption.

As well as the air being contaminated, tap water in China is also full of chemicals and bacteria with 41% of Chinese moving to bottled water, purifiers and dispensers according to the China Water Supply Services Union.

The usage of bottled water has doubled in China over the past decade, with Tianmei Beverage Group Corp’s "Soft Water Barrel" saying that they are the solution.

The Soft Water Barrel collapses on itself when drained, preventing air contamination by folding in on itself to prevent any air from getting into the container.

More than 50% of China’s cities have suffered from medium to severe pollution this year with the main pollutant being PM2.5, a type of micro-particle which is dangerous to health.

By 2060, it is estimated that the world’s second largest economy may be cut as much as 2.5% by the extension of employee sick days, damaged crops and an ever growing increase in health care.

Tianmei has stated that they are planning to use part of the money raised by their product to buy a water plant for research and development.
