Gold standard technical and economic studies show the average cost of an EV could reach parity with gas-guzzling competitors within the next eight years or sooner. One study finds that when fuel savings are accounted for, EVs are already at cost parity in some markets and that automakers could reap profits comparable to or greater than gas-powered cars by or before 2025.
