The start-up Faraday Future have revealed their self-driving EV car – the FF91 – which can accelerate from zero to 60mph (97km/h) in just 2.39 seconds.
The FF91 can accelerate quicker than Tesla’s Model S or any other electric vehicles currently in production. The Model S, by comparison, can accelerate from standstill to 60mph in 2.5 seconds.
Faraday Future unveiled their electric vehicle at the CES tech show in Las Vegas, USA.
While many at the show were greatly impressed, the presentation did become slightly awkward when Jia Yueting, the Chinese investor, tried to exhibit the car’s self-parking function in front of the audience. The vehicle remained stationary. Eventually it complied when they made a second attempt.
The company is planning to release the FF91 in 2018 and for those who would like to pre-order, they will need to provide a refundable deposit of $5,000 (roughly £4,080).
