Green Motion presented with Corporate Social Responsibility Award

International car rental brand Green Motion have won a Gold CSR Excellence Award in the national campaign to find the best companies, councils and communities.

They competed against more than 500 other nominations in the International CSR Excellence Awards for 2020, and they were presented with their trophy and certificate at a glittering (socially distanced) presentation ceremony at the Waldorf Hilton Hotel, London on October 20th, 2020.

The judges commented: “Established in the UK in 2007 by British entrepreneur Richard Lowden, Green Motion has grown into an international business, currently operating in over 450 locations in 47 countries – making it one of the world’s fastest growing franchised car rental businesses. Green Motion has pioneered the vision of low emission vehicles for daily rental.

All Green Motion vehicles abide by a strict CO2 emission guide, enabling them to boast the greenest and cleanest vehicle rental fleet in the world. They also enable customers to offset their carbon footprint by donating to their Green Heart Fee initiative which gives customers the choice to donate to the protection of the Costa Rican rain forest. More than $40,000 has been donated to the Green Heart initiative so far, with almost 52% of customers contributing to carbon offset initiatives. Green Motion have significantly reduced their energy and water consumption throughout their sites and show that they are leaders in the environment through their recycling and use of sustainable materials. Winning best practice awards year after year, Green Motion is genuinely the market disrupter that started the change towards greener vehicle rental.”

As a result of this International CSR Excellence Awards success, they have been invited to have their winning paper published in The Global Guide to CSR Excellence (the leading international work of reference on corporate social responsibility best practice) so that others around the world can follow their lead and learn from their achievement.

Green Motion Founder & CEO Richard Lowden commented, "We are absolutely delighted to be presented with the Gold Corporate Social Responsibility Award, specifically with reference to our 'green' and environmentally focused projects. Our green credentials are at the heart of our brand and we strive to ensure this ethos is at the centre of everything we do. Corporate Social Responsibility is not just about the environment however, and we are delighted to also be recognised for our charitable efforts and community spirit."
