Green Motion says 'No' to Discrimination

In light of the recent article published by the BBC news earlier this week which focused on some rental companies varying their prices based on the customer’s location – not the location they are hiring the car from but the location that they are purchasing the car from – Richard Lowden, founder and Chairman of Green Motion stated, "I am pleased to confirm that Green Motion are not one of the rental companies operating within the European market that disadvantage customers based on their geographical location."

Richard went on to say, "Green Motion operates a fair pricing policy and does not discriminate against any customer in regards to where they are booking from or to."

The BBC article highlighted the practices of other rental companies including a German individual who paid around double the price of a British driver who selected the same rental car for the same dates and location.

The BBC also found that some online car hirer broker websites change their prices depending upon the information the driver puts in. Some websites even automatically direct customers to their country specific website from their computers IP address. It is within these country specific websites that businesses vary their prices.

Concerns were first published in 2011, giving companies ample time to review their pricing techniques; some of the original companies that were exposed in 2011 have amended their websites – however others are still unfairly charging customers based on their residential location.

Lowden also stated, "Green Motion remains focused on delivering a high quality service at the very best prices and will remain firm on its position to not discriminate customers regardless of whether they book directly through www.greenmotion.com or through a supply partner/price comparison website."
