Green Motion awarded the Green World Award 2023
What a win!
Members of the Italian Tesla owners club claimed to have set a new distance record - travelling 670 miles in a Tesla Model S on a single charge.
The feat beat the previous record set in Belgium which was 110 miles (using a Tesla Model S 100D). The drivers employed ‘hypermilling’ techniques to save as much energy as possible, they maintained a constant speed using low rolling-resistance tyres and tried not to use the brakes.
The team drove without any aircon at an average speed of just 25mph, reaching 670 miles before coming to a complete stop after coming to 0% charge.
However, electric cars still have a way to go before they can match today’s petrol and diesel cars, which normally exceed 500 miles per tank and can be refilled within minutes – even the quickest electric charges takes over an hour to fully charge vehicles.
