At the beginning of the lockdown in the UK the owners of Green Motion Midlands & Scotland announced their intention to provide free van rental to charities who need it to support their efforts during these unprecedented times.

Midland Langar Seva Society is an organisation that strives to help the those in need around the UK. The charity was established October 2013 in Walsall providing hot food and drink to those living on the street, schools, safe houses and those on the poverty line. MLSS operates on Sikh based ethos, helping and supporting all people regardless of social status.

Langar is the term used in the Sikh religion or in Punjab for general or common kitchen / canteen where food is served for free, without prejudice regardless of race, religion, and background.

Supporting the homeless and vulnerable during lockdown, MLSS used Green Motion vans to deliver over 45,000 hot meals to homeless people temporarily housed in hotels and B&Bs across Leicester to help keep them safe during the pandemic.

The Midland Langar Seva Society is among a number of local charities and voluntary organisations working with the city council to provide much-needed support to vulnerable people affected by the pandemic.

The charity has delivered up to 1400 meals per day prepared and cooked by volunteers, to people living in the temporary accommodation provided by the council.
