Nissan is planning to test self-driving taxis on Japanese roads

The carmaker, Nissan, is planning to test self-driving taxi's on Japanese roads from March 2018.

Nissan is partnering with DeNA, a Japanese software company, who operate online services for the healthcare, gaming and automotive industries.

Together, they will be adapting a Nissan Leaf EV which passengers will ‘summon’ using an app.

The trials are scheduled to be held over a 2 week period in March in Yokohama. The system, called Easy Ride, could launch in Japan in the early 2020s.
