Referred to as ‘paradise on Earth’ by George Bernard Shaw, you simply have to visit Dubrovnik on your Croatia staycation. Games of Thrones fans will delight in seeing the famous King’s Landing and there are many tours you can take to be shown around the sights from the famous show. Even if you aren’t a fan of the show, you’ll still enjoy the stunning architecture of the Old Town and the walls surrounding it. You may be lucky in the summer, restrictions permitting, to visit the same time as the Dubrovnik Summer Festival – an outdoor festival with music, theatre and dance performances.

A creative little town, Samobor is well known for its craft makers and artisans that produce a lot of goods that you’ll find for sale in Samobor, Croatia and worldwide. Samobor Castle is a great place to visit, with the Castle still standing despite being built in 1268! Afterwards, pop on over to the Samobor Museum where you’ll see the history of the town as well as art and archaeological findings. We also recommend visiting the Rimac car manufacturer while you’re there, who design, engineer and build some of the most advanced automotive technology in the world. They put on factory tours where you can find out about their electric hyper cars and the technology they work with. If you have time, you can also squeeze in a visit to the Grgos Cave, which is said to be the most beautiful cave in Croatia.
