Founder & CEO of Green Motion Vehicle Rental Richard Lowden was joined this week by fellow colleagues from the rent a car industry including Gaurav Kohli of Fox Rent-a-Car, Arun Kumar of Alix Partners and Andrew Rodriguez of FPG for the closing keynote of the International Car Rental Show in Las Vegas.

The panel addressed the attendees of the show, discussing the major changes that are coming into play within the sector. Richard, along with Gaurav from Fox Rent-a-Car were very much in agreement that the industry had to modernise and become far more agile in order to meet head on the challenges from ride-hailing organisations such as Uber and Lyft, along with new entrants to the mobility space such as Google, Apple and Dyson.

Richard shared with the audience the latest suite of innovations developed by Green Motion, allowing the company to adapt to the new era of mobility. These included their new pre-registration process, key vending machines and the latest innovation to debut at the show - their straight to car service, Drive & Go, which allows customers to utilise their smart phone as a key.

Richard said, "I really enjoyed being able to share my knowledge and vision for the changes that are already taking place within our sector. In the US alone, while the rent a car business is worth in excess of $27 billion, major disruption is ahead." Richard went on to say that collaboration and partnership would play a major part in defending the current players within the sector, and urged the attendees to focus on a more unified approach, at a country and international level.
