Ryanair admit a mix-up leading to the cancellation of flights

Ryanair admit to a mix-up on pilot holiday’s, having written to 400,000 passengers to tell them that their flight has been cancelled. The mix-up has left 18 million ticket holders wondering if their holiday plans are going to be ruined.

The airline company blamed a one-off pilot holiday roster issue, adding that it will cost them around €25m (£22m) in compensation payouts.

Ryanair are to cancel between 40 – 50 flights each day until the 31st of October. They are trying to focus their cuts on routes where alternative flights are more easily available.

Around 75-80% of customers will be re-routed within a day of their expected travel date however that still leaves as many as 100,000 ticket holders facing serious delays with possible weekend getaways being completely ruined.
