The worst of Storm Doris will batter Britain today, with the Met Office warning that the storm will bring gale-force winds and snow to some areas.

The amber – be prepared – weather warning has been extended to include Birmingham where winds of up to 80mph are expected. Snow will fall in Scotland and Northern England.

The yellow weather warning – be aware – has been extended to most of England, Wales and Northern Ireland due to the high winds with the storm likely to damage buildings, interrupt power supplies as well as disturbing land and air travel.
