Tesla fell short in their forecasted pre-2017 delivery to customers

Tesla reported yesterday that they delivered 22,200 vehicles during the 4th quarter of 2016.

In total, Tesla delivered 76,230 vehicles to customers, which significantly fell short of their 2016 forecast of between 80,000 – 90,000 cars.

It is reported that Tesla experienced manufacturing problems due to the integration of their new Autopilot software between October to early December.

As a result, vehicle production was stilted and a number of cars missed their shipping deadlines for Europe and Asia. 6,450 vehicles are still awaiting delivery and will be counted towards the 1st quarter of 2017’s numbers.

Although Tesla was late on their deliveries during the 4th quarter of 2016, in total they produced 83,922 cars which is an amazing increase of 64% over 2015.
