Tesla owners are able to speed while using autopilot following a update of software over the weekend.
The new software adjusted how the autopilot function works. The software covers advanced safety features, such as lane assist (which keeps the car in the correct land) as well as adaptive cruise control (matching speed to the car in front).
In December, a software update was released which limited the speed on roads without a central divider, meaning that cars were unable to go faster than the speed limit.
That update as now been reversed, enabling Tesla owners to break the speed limit. Although, Tesla cars are capped at 5 miles per hour above the speed limit on non-divided roads but on motorways, the limited is much higher – the autopilot can be set up to 90mph.
A number of owners were pleased to take back the control of their cars speed.
Tesla have stated that the driver is at all times responsible for the control and speed of their vehicle.
