Tesla are expecting to launch to Model Y by 2020 according to the company’s CEO, Elon Musk.

Last July, Musk confirmed that Tesla were planning to bring a compact SUV to the market, named the Model Y. The Model Y is to be made on a separate platform than the Model 3.

Taking into consideration that many of the other major motor manufacturers are planning to roll-out their own EV SUV’s by 2020, including Vovlo, Mercedes and Audi, Tesla’s release timing was inevitable.

Tesla cannot confirm when they will begin to take orders for the Model Y.
