The Model 3 will be using some of the same glass technology that Tesla is using for its solar roof

After last week’s announcement regarding Tesla’s new solar roof with SolarCity, it will not come as a surprise that the Model 3 will be using some of the same glass technology that Tesla is using for its solar roof shingles.

Telsa now has a special glass technology division who are focused on the development of their solar roof technology.

The glass will incorporate heating elements to clear snow but, at the same time, it won’t waste energy while doing so, it will be ‘net positive.’

It is not yet clear where the glass is going to be incorporated on the vehicle but many are speculating that the Model S will either have a solar roof or that the glass will be used to make its windshield.
