Thousands of passengers are still stranded after Delta flights were cancelled due to a power cut.
An estimated 300 flights had to be cancelled on Tuesday, causing a ripple effect with 1,000 cancellations and 2,800 delays in the preceding 24 hours.
The flight tracking service, FlightStats, estimated that around 600 further flights were delayed as Delta did all that they could to help the thousands of customers whose travel plans had been affected. The airline has profusely apologised to its passengers, offering refunds and $200 in travel vouchers.
The airlines check-in systems, website and smartphone apps were all affected by the system collapse which has been blamed on a power failure near Delta’s headquarters in Atlanta which caused its computer systems to fail.
Flights did resume yesterday (Tuesday, September 9th) however if you are travelling with Delta, please be advised that delays are still predicted.
