Uber wants to steer Londoners towards carpooling

Uber wants to steer Londoners towards carpooling, even though the majority of passengers actually prefer to travel alone or with people they know.

Andrew Bryne, the company’s UK head of public policy, implied the company’s directional move during a meeting with MPs this week. Parliaments Transport Committee are investigating on how to reduce traffic and congestion in cities, notably London.

Uberpool, which is only a year old in London, has already accounted for 2 million journeys. In San Francisco and LA in California, Uberpool is used by almost half of all of Uber journeys.

Would you be interested in carpooling with strangers?
