The chief executive of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) has stated that the success of the UK motor industry could be 'jeopardised' if the UK leaves the EU single market following Brexit.

The European Union is the UK motor industry's biggest export market. The inclusion of tariffs to this industry could see the market become unbalanced. The Executive Director of Corporate and Strategy at Jaguar Land Rover has agreed with this belief, stating that the additional duties on parts would ultimately be passed onto the customers, and that many jobs could be affected.
