Volkswagen, the world’s largest car maker, has set itself the target to sell 1 million electric cars annually by 2025, with sales from mainland China being a key driver for their growth predictions.

Volkswagen will begin delivering their first electric car by 2020 – the same timeframe that Tesla plan to start shipping 1 million vehicles per year.

Volkswagen have claimed that the German company has capabilities that Tesla don’t have.

Volkswagen feel like China is the perfect market for their electric cars as, not only have they overtaken the US in terms of the electric car market size (mostly thanks to Chinese government policies favouring new energy cars) but the population want less noise and cleaner air.
