A collection of long-range EV's are expected to hit the market by 2020

Considering going fully electric? A collection of long-range electric cars are expected to hit the mass market by 2020.

While some are made by luxury automakers and will most likely cost from $50,000 upwards, there are also several companies working on electric cars with a range of 200 miles plus which are likely to have a more affordable price tag.

Model 3 by Tesla

Tesla’s Model 3 is expected to go into production before the end of the year. The vehicles will start at $35,000 (roughly) however buyers will have to pay extra if they want the Autopilot feature. The Model 3 has a range of, at least, 215 miles per charge and is roomy enough for 5 people.

Model Y by Tesla

The Model Y is Tesla’s compact SUV which is due to arrive by late 2019 or 2020. While Tesla has not stated a price, it has been speculated that the SUV will not be another luxury vehicle but, instead, will have a competitive price.

Volvo’s EV

Volvo has promised that their first electric car will be coming by 2019. The EV is going to have a price tag of $40,000 with a range of 250 miles per charge.

Volkswagen’s Electric Crossover

VW is expected to release an electric crossover in 2020, with a range of around 300 miles per charge. The crossover will have a price tag of $30,000 - $35,000 with a top speed of 99 mph, accelerating from 0 to 62 mph in less than 8 seconds.

Ford’s Electric Crossover

Ford are launching an electric crossover utility vehicle in 2020. The CUV is expected to have a similar price to the Ford Escape and have a range of more than 300 miles per charge.

Nissan Leaf

The 2018 Nissan Leaf will be available later this year. While the previous version has a range of around 100 miles per charge, the 2018 Leaf will surpass this with 200 miles per charge. The 2017 Nissan Leaf costs $30,700, so it is expected that the new Leaf will cost slightly more.

Chevy Bolt by General Motors

General Motors have already launched their Chevy Bolt, which is priced at $37,500. GM began production of the Chevy Bolt last year, beating Tesla to the game by creating the first mass-market EV. The Bolt has a range of 238 miles per single charge and a top speed of 91 mph.
