StoreDot have been working on making 21st century life that little bit easier for all of us since their breakthrough in the battery industry. At first the company focused its attention on mobile phones and other household goods, now the startup based in Tel-Aviv is turning its talents to electric car batteries. The new technology is expected to charge phone batteries in a matter of seconds, and cars in a mere few minutes.
StoreDot announced at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show that it will be delivering battery charging technology that allows electric cars to be juiced-up in record speeds. The firm plans to showcase this as early as the 2016 CES show.
Chief executive Doran Myersdorf stated during an interview with the BBC that the technology "allows us to charge very fast, moving ions from an anode to a cathode at a speed that was not possible before we had these materials”
When asked how long we would have to wait for such a feat he responded "We intend to show in one year a model of a car that can charge in three minutes.”
Judging by the chief executives comments it's more than feasible that we will see this technology available within the next few years. A innovative and lightening fast charging system could be a game changer for the plug-in electric car industry.
