The long awaited release of the highly anticipated new Tesla model is nearly upon us, although we aren't quite sure how close just yet. Tesla has a big announcement come October 9th regarding the mysterious release.
Further fueling the fires, insiders at Tesla have been dropping hints about what we can be expecting from the new and inventive model.
Tesla's Elon Musk teased his 1 million fans via Social Media by suggestively and cryptically tweeting that they would "unveil the D and something else". Much speculation has taken place about the meaning behind the tweet online, popular rumours include that the "D" stands for a self-driving version of the Model S or a less expensive electric crossover. Additionally, the phrase "something else" is rumoured to mean the addition of an entirely separate model. Although with no official word from Tesla, it's all merely speculation.
The buzz certainly shows in the stocks, with a rise by more than 4% in one day. This isn't the first time that Musk’s tongue in cheek social media activity has affected the company’s stock. Last month he tweeted "“I think our stock price is kind of high right now to be totally honest” and saw a 1.8% drop of the very same day.
Whatever the outcome of the mysterious hint, Musk has implied it will be game changing.
"Tesla is a Silicon Valley company," he said. "I mean, if we're not the leader, then shame on us.”
I guess we will find out exactly what Elon means very shortly.
