We try and keep the check in process as easy as possible but we do need to process certain information for legal reasons so having these ready ahead of time can help speed up the process. Make sure you have your booking details ready, along with your driving license, passport and valid credit card.

Complete a vehicle check. It's essential when you are taken to your car you complete a Vehicle Condition Report (VCR) and note any existing damage, paying particular attention to the five damage hotspots. If you don't report this, you may be liable for these damages when you return the vehicle. We don't want you to get caught out, so we've put together a handy vehicle inspection video to help you check everything through.

While you rent - take care
Unfortunately you may be liable for any damage caused to a vehicle in your care, and this will vary depending on the product you choose. A large proportion of damages usually happens in car parks, so be careful. When space is limited, park further away and walk a little further to your destination.

Is it worth to rent a car in Rovaniemi?


Rovaniemi is a large city, and there is also plenty to see and experience in its surroundings. Renting a car is recommended if you want to explore the city and its surroundings at your own pace and make the most of your visit.

While public transportation in the city center of Rovaniemi works well, traveling by car makes it significantly easier to carry luggage, and you won't need to schedule your trips according to bus timetables. There are also many stunning natural attractions in and around Rovaniemi, located outside the city and difficult to reach with public transportation.

Especially if your trip includes activities and experiences, it's not advisable to rely on public transport schedules or routes for those adventures.

Rovaniemi and the nature of Lapland are close even when traveling by car, and at its best, you can enjoy breathtaking landscapes while driving. In winter, the darkness and slippery road conditions of Lapland may surprise those from the south. Even in summer, there can be unexpected situations on the roads, so it's wise for drivers to keep a moderate speed. In particular, reindeer roam the roads during the summer, often in herds, and they are not afraid of cars.

If you stop to admire the Northern Lights, reindeer, or any other attraction, always do so in a safe location.

Driving in Rovaniemi, as in the rest of Finland, is generally calm and relaxed, as long as you remember to enjoy the sights safely.
