Japan’s commitment to electric vehicles has reached new heights after the country has recently been found to have more recharge points than petrol stations.
According to research by Nissan, the country has set an example of how a charging infrastructure should be implemented with 40,000 recharge points - exceeding the 35,000 petrol stations.
In the UK, the latest figures show that there are just below 4,000 charging points compared to 8,500 petrol stations, creating an average distance of 3.8 miles between charging points.
UK EV owners can be encouraged that there is already a high number of publicly-accessible charging points located across the country and many more units are being installed in more rural areas in the coming months. Advancements in technology has also seen the charging times drop significantly.
With plug-in vehicles becoming more affordable and the number of charging points available growing, doubts around EV’s are getting answered.
There were over 10,000 electric car sales in the first three months of 2016, the strongest UK figures since the government’s plug in grant was introduced. Placing the UK as the EU’s biggest major market over the past 12 months.
