An absolute stunning country to visit, Morocco is full of colour and culture with many fascinating places to explore. From hiking the Atlas Mountains, to scuba diving in Tangier – Morocco has something for everyone.
Be prepared with your light summer clothes as you can expect a steady warm temperature on your trip, and comfy shoes are a must! Below you’ll find some inspiration for when you start planning your adventure.
Ride camels across the Sahara
High on a lot of bucket lists is riding a camel, and where better than the Sahara Desert. Experience the beauty of the desert sand dunes, as they change colour to create the perfect backdrop for your ride on a dromedary camel.
The ride generally takes a few hours, and it can take over a day to get to the Sahara depending on your journey, so make sure you plan your trip around this activity, leaving plenty of space to travel.
Hike the Atlas Mountains
Many people work in a hike up the Atlas Mountains on their journey to the Sahara Desert. Spanning 2,500km the mountains, the mountains offer a completely different experience depending on what time of year you visit. If you want to take advantage of the view over a sun kissed Morocco, plan your visit for the summer. However, if you want more of a challenge, a hike in the winter will see a snow-covered mountain with frosty breakth-taking views. You can reach the highest range in the Toubkal National Park.
Scuba dive in Tangier
If water’s more your vibe, then a scuba trip in the Mediterranean Sea off of Tangier is a must. Get up close and personal with a variety of sea life including coral reefs, various fish species and if you’re lucky you may encounter a turtle of dolphin! We recommend booking with a local guide, so you can stay safe on your dive.
Go rock climbing at Tafraoute
If you’re looking for a rock-climbing experience off the beaten track, head over to Trafraoute and experience some of the unique rock formations for a variety of experience levels. Due to the fact these climbs aren’t as popular, you’ll experience a more virgin terrain and experience the area in its natural beauty. The formations have still been well developed and we recommend visiting the north side of Trafroute if you want more variety in your climb. You will also get to experience the stunning quartzite, with rich hues of orange that make the trip even more beautiful.
Visit the kasbahs of Marrakech
If you’ve ever wanted to rock the kasbah, this is the excursion for you! Book a trip to see the kasbah of Aït Ben Haddou, one of the most popular day trips from Marrakech. A beautiful example of historical Moroccan architecture, you are able to see up close for yourself the incredible building sculpted from traditional mud bricks and fortified by walls of dark red pisé. Be prepare for the heat when you get to the stop and pack your hat and sunscreen.
Take a trek up Mount Toubkal
Not for the faint hearted, a trek to the top of Mount Toubkal can take a couple of days, so make sure you plan ahead and pick the right route for you. If you do reach the top, you will be rewarded with incredible views out over Morocco spanning as far as the Atlantic Ocean. The summit certainly isn’t the hardest trek you can take, so we recommend taking on the challenge as you won’t be disappointed!
Of course, you’ll need to get around and the best way is by rented car. We have a wide range of cars available for rent in Morocco from fun city run arounds, to sensible family hatchbacks, and large cars to fit the whole family plus luggage.
